Ps. 8:6–8).… While substantive elements of the divine image in man (that is, an analogy between the nature of God and characteristics of humans) cannot be ruled out, a functional understanding (humans exercising the function of ruling the earth for God) seems to reflect most accurately the emphasis in the biblical record.
